Efficient Solution to Aid in Choosing Eyewear
Karoo Eyewear. Problem/Opportunity.
Concept Project. From my past experiences as a user of eyeglasses. I sought to create an eyewear app with the ability to choose the correct shape, color of eyewear and time-saving. There is a problem with our busy lifestyle, difficult to schedule time off, not happy with perfect eyewear. To save time, find the perfect color and shape based on face using face detection technology.

Discovery.
I researched other eyewear companies. Most eyeglass apps are virtual tryon or uses a model as a quide. Most apps out there were too complicated, most didn't work. Some glass companies didnt have an app.
Competitive. Comparative Analysis.
Glasses.com biggest competitor. Warby Parker try on and mail back, no app. Frames direct virtual try by uploading a photo,
Mojo Mask and Snap Chat feature - design inspiration. Home Depot and Perfect 365 for adding color.
User Research.
I personally asked users what were their pain points. Responses
“It takes me 4 or 5 days to even decide on perfect glasses”
”I have to take a family member with me when my eyes are dialated, cant see correct glasses and others asked friends for what look best”
”It takes too long at the eye doctor, I have to schedule time off”
Solution. They would rather have option to try on, ability to pick right shape, purchase from convenience of their own home. So there is a need.
First iteration of Sketches.
Based on my user interviews and my findings, I started sketching. Users thought circle shapes childish. I went back to the drawing board. I used squares instead of circle. I revised my initial layout after I received feedback from my users.
Face Detection Technology/Augmented Reality
Once onboarded facial recognition technology detects the shape of the users face with the ability to choose different color/shape eyewear and compares them to their favorites. Option to delete the image.

Next Steps.
Offer a device that attaches to the phone that can perform an eye chart exam from the convenience of your home that can prevent blindness. Incorporate tablet device in the future.
